I mentioned this beautiful ensemble in yesterday’s post, and here it is: the insanely gorgeous Rachel Zoe tuxedo jacket and pants in an out-of-this-world impossibly beautiful shade of purple.  A lot of different items make my “must have!” list every year, but only a few make my Holy Grail list.  This is one of them.

As regular readers would know, I love everything Rachel Zoe. She is a personal style icon of mine, and her show on Bravo, The Rachel Zoe Project was one of the key factors in reinforcing my love of fashion.  The show helped me come to the conclusion I didn’t have to apologize for or be ashamed of my deep love for everything fashion. It also helped me figure out that I wanted to work in fashion, and lead me to the realization that I needed to be writing about my #1 passion on a daily basis.

However, this does not mean I love everything RZ does blindly or without question.  A piece I love from one of her collections has to be really exceptional for me to designate it as a ‘Holy Grail’ item. (This goes for any other designer as well).  I’m not going to automatically “love” something just because a fashion magazine or blogger tells me to, or because I see a celebrity wear it.  The piece has to really speak to me, and check all of my “style boxes”.  I love the nipped in waist, the buttons on the cuffs, the smaller lapels. So many suits have big lapels that overwhelm you, especially if you are petite and/or vertically challenged. I love that you can wear this suit no matter how tall you are, and it’s not going to overwhelm your frame.

This suit is something I can see myself wearing now and 20 years from now.  It is a timeless cut in an impossibly beautiful shade. We think we have to stick to blacks and greys when it comes to suiting, but nothing is further from the truth. You are more likely to hold on to a piece that stands out to you, so you might as well be brave and pick the colors you love. Fashion is about having fun, and you should never be afraid to have lots of color in your wardrobe. Your wardrobe shouldn’t be blacks and greys 24/7!

So, Santa, if you’re reading this…I guess you know what to get me! :)
